–Hotel Real Maestranza. Guadalajara, Mexico. 2 days after RAZOR Episode #12–
Various sped up shots are shown of Joey Bryant moving throughout a dimly lit hotel room. Cooking, relaxing, working out, all the things you can do in a normal sized hotel suite. The shots begin slowing down and it cuts to a resting shot of Joey limping out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist, his upper body covered in various bruises. He begins to stretch and pulls out a yoga mat and places it down and the camera feed quickly cuts to black.
The camera cuts back in a second and Joey is now sitting directly in front of the camera, still shirtless & covered in bruises but now wearing black sweatpants instead of the towel. He runs his hands through his hair and speaks.
Joey Bryant: 34 is starting to feel a lot like 43. Kylie Ray did a number on me, and she deserves all the ovation she received from the UK fans. This tour is also doing a number on me. From New York, to Vegas. Italy. UK. Now here, in Mexico. I’m not complaining though, I live for this. I just never expected I’d be on a world tour at this stage in my career, and again, 34 is starting to feel a lot like 43.
He chuckles briefly and stands up and begins to slowly pace back and forth.
Joey Bryant: I haven’t been home in a while now, and to say I don’t miss it would be a lie. I can’t think of anyone sane that would come out of peaceful retirement to sacrifice their body & their sanity on a weekly basis like we do as professional wrestlers. That is, unless there was an actual reason for it. Monetary gain, sure, we could use some renovations at my gym back in New York. The equipment is outdated, the walls are held together by rusty nails & duct tape and there’s no way in hell we’d pass a New York State Inspection to open to the public. But a home is not meant to be opened to the public, is it?
Joey stops pacing and sits down back in the chair and takes a deep breath.
Joey Bryant: I’ve had no one to check in on me in quite some time, but hearing the support I’ve been receiving from these crowds, even internationally, has been eye opening. I feel like I’ve found my people again. That is worth more than any type of dollar amount could ever give me, and my home can wait for my arrival for a bit longer. It is where I began my career as a young prodigy, and now I am faced with who they’ve dubbed THE prodigy.
He smirks briefly and leans back into the chair.
Joey Bryant: Am I out of my element here? Maybe…maybe. But when this Vanguard series began, and even a bit before then, Kash Warren was a guy I figured I’d be crossing paths with at one point or another. I’ve seen what Kash has done to Ace Sky lately, I’ve seen the disrespect he’s thrown around to any who cross paths with him and that is exactly what I would expect out of a 21 year old man with an equally boastful girlfriend on his side. It’s not a shock, and it’s also nothing I haven’t seen before. The Consortium helped organize & present this new Vanguard Championship, and while my thoughts on The Consortium are still questionable, my eyes lit up at the idea immediately. Not at the title itself, it is beautiful. But the idea…
Joey points his finger up and shakes it as a smile appears on his face for a brief moment, and he leans forward to the front of the chair.
Joey Bryant: The journey to get to fight for the championship, the way we’re able to do it here in Mexico under Lucha De Apuestas rules, having to wager or sacrifice something in order to even participate, well, that is right up my alley, isn’t it? The things this championship stands for, to be a true fighting champion for RAZOR Wrestling in just a short couple months here is something I didn’t even think I was capable of. But I am ready for it. My first main event in many, many years and it’s in a place I’ve never been or thought I’d be. Ready for it. We’re both undefeated, Kash! We’re both the new blood in this circus and while guys like Jack McGrath & Contagion or a couple beasts like Samhain & SHADOJIMA wouldn’t even consider us threats in this current moment, I’d bet they’ll be looking to get their hands on some gold at some point sooner or later. And when they realize RAZOR’s freshest blood & shiniest new gold is in the hands of someone like you or I? Talk about a target. Can you handle that, Kash? Can you put a company on your back and take it to new heights while half the roster doesn’t even acknowledge your presence?!
He stops abruptly as his emotions start to take over. He takes a breath to finish his statement.
Joey Bryant: This is what I’m all about, brother. The World of RAZOR might be unaware, hell, the world in general has probably forgotten my name altogether by now but Joey Bryant IS a Champion. And it’s a damn shame it took me this long to figure it out myself. See you soon, kid. Don’t try too hard to be a martyr. This life ain’t for everyone.
Joey nods with a stone cold expression on his face, almost a frown, as he leans forward to turn off the camera as the feed cuts to black.
